We are Ahead Health
Healthcare is broken. It's reactive, fragmented, and increasingly expensive. While we have more and growing health data than ever before, we're not using it effectively to prevent disease and optimize wellbeing.
That's why we started Ahead Health. We're building an AI-powered platform that transforms how people understand and manage their health, shifting from reactive treatment to proactive prevention and health optimization. By combining cutting-edge technology with medical expertise, we help people take control of their health journey before problems arise.
The product vision: personal concierge medical care, for everyone. Three key components: (1) a data vault with the most up-to-date picture of your health, (2) a trusted, high-quality single-point-of-care, and (3) the most insightful and helpful platform, bespoke to you.
We're excited to build Europe's leading preventative health platform, starting with Switzerland.
We’re backed by founders and execs from Hugging Face, Cradle, Google, DeepMind, Oviva, Stanford Medicine, GE, Philips, and Coda — as well as Tiny.vc and RTP Global.
YOUR ROLE
Build from the ground up
From data chaos to clinical clarity
Transform fragmented health records into unified, actionable insights to help the medical staff. Your systems get smarter with every doctor interaction and member interaction, reducing manual work over time
Your role
The wealthy have always enjoyed better, more personalized healthcare. AI allows us to bring this to the rest of us. Ahead Health aims to be Europe’s leading prevention platform. We raised our Seed-round with great investors, and are now planning to scale.
As our AI/LLM Engineer, you will architect and implement the intelligence layer that powers our personalized health platform. You'll own the design, development, evaluations, productionization, and optimization of AI/LLM-based features that translate complex health data into actionable, personalized insights our users can trust. You'll work closely with our users, CEO, CTO, CPO, doctors, designers, medical advisors, and engineers.
We're looking for someone who is passionate about responsibly applying advanced AI models to real-world health challenges, in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. You thrive in balancing innovation with safety and compliance, and defaults to rapid-yet-rigorous experimentation and evaluation. You should be someone who cares deeply about model performance, accuracy, reliability, monitoring, and feedback-loops, understanding that in healthcare, the stakes are uniquely high.
Responsibilities
Build intelligent bespoke health experiences. Design and implement AI/LLM-powered features for health insights, personalized recommendations, and conversational interfaces that users trust.
Architect robust AI systems. Build and iterate on AI-driven consumer experiences and clinical tools, from initial prompt engineering to fine-tuning to agentic workflows.
Ensure medical accuracy and safety. Implement rigorous evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and doctors-in-the-loop systems to ensure AI outputs meet clinical standards and regulatory requirements.
Drive continuous improvement. Establish metrics, monitoring, and observability for LLM systems; iterate based on user feedback and production performance data.
Optimize for performance and cost. Fine-tune models, implement efficient prompt strategies, and manage inference costs while maintaining quality and response times.
Inspire strategic data infrastructure for AI. Drive the requirements of data platforms and infrastructure that enable continuous AI improvements.
Stay at the frontier. Research and evaluate emerging LLM capabilities, frameworks, and best practices; bring relevant innovations to production.
Need to have
3-5+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years building and deploying production LLM applications.
Expertise with LLM APIs and frameworks. Proven experience with foundation models; hands-on proficiency with orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent) and vector databases.
Strong prompt engineering and context engineering skills.
Production LLMOps experience. Familiarity with model evaluation, A/B testing, observability tools, model monitoring, and pragmatic model governance.
Solid software engineering fundamentals. Strong Python skills, experience with API development, version control, testing, and CI/CD pipelines. Excellent command of backend fundamentals for building data-heavy, intelligent applications
Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and deploying AI workloads at scale, including containerization and infrastructure-as-code.
Passionate about responsible AI in healthcare. Deep appreciation for data privacy, model bias, explainability, and the unique ethical considerations of applying AI to health and medical domains.
Great to have
You've built AI-first products from scratch, whether as a founder, an early-stage employee, or on a new product line.
Fine-tuning and model optimization experience. Multi-agent and agentic systems experience.
Medical or healthcare domain knowledge. Understanding of clinical workflows, medical terminology, FHIR standards, or previous work in digital health, healthtech, or clinical decision support systems.
Research background. M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field.
Swiss/European healthcare compliance experience.
