Senior AI-Product Engineer
About the role
Ahead Health is building Europe’s AI-powered preventive health platform.
You’ll own and build the AI-driven product features that our customers use daily.
You obsess over AI quality, evaluation, and monitoring just as much as UX and shipping speed.
Join a small, technical, product-obsessed team from Google, Coolblue, Kaia Health, and Oxford.
We are Ahead Health
Healthcare is broken. It's reactive, fragmented, and increasingly expensive. While we have more and growing health data than ever before, we're not using it effectively to prevent disease and optimize wellbeing.
That's why we started Ahead Health. We're building an AI-powered platform that transforms how people understand and manage their health, shifting from reactive treatment to proactive prevention and health optimization. By combining cutting-edge technology with medical expertise, we help people take control of their health journey before problems arise.
The product vision: personal concierge medical care, for everyone. Three key components: (1) a data vault with the most up-to-date picture of your health, (2) a trusted, high-quality single-point-of-care, and (3) the most insightful and helpful platform, bespoke to you.
We're excited to build Europe's leading preventative health platform, starting with Switzerland.
We’re backed by founders and execs from Hugging Face, Cradle, Google, DeepMind, Oviva, Stanford Medicine, GE, Philips, and Coda — as well as Tiny.vc and RTP Global.

Your role
The wealthy have always enjoyed better, more personalized healthcare. AI allows us to bring this to the rest of us. Ahead Health raised its Seed round with great investors and is now scaling.
As our Senior AI Product Engineer, you’ll design and build the AI-powered features that sit at the core of our product—personalized health plans, conversational health interfaces (“talk to your body”), intelligent triage, and proactive health nudges. You own features end-to-end: from understanding what our customers need, through prompt and context engineering, to production deployment, evaluation, and monitoring.
Deploying AI for consumer health carries dimensions you won’t find in a typical product role. Every output can influence a real health decision, so you’ll need to engineer for medical accuracy, graceful handling of uncertainty, and hallucination prevention at every layer. You’ll navigate regulatory frameworks, not as abstract compliance boxes but as design constraints that shape how features work. You’ll build trust through transparency: helping customers understand what the AI knows, what it doesn’t, and when to involve a doctor. And you’ll balance deep personalization with rigorous data privacy, ensuring that sensitive health data is always handled with the care it demands.
This is not a research or infrastructure-only role. You ship products and features. You care deeply about AI quality and reliability because in healthcare the stakes are high; but you also care about delightful user experiences and rapid iteration. You’ll work closely with our CEO, CTO, CPO, doctors, designers, and engineers.
Responsibilities
Ship AI-powered product features. Design, build, and iterate on features like AI-assisted health plans, conversational health interfaces, and personalized recommendations that customers trust and love.
Own quality end-to-end. Build rigorous evaluation frameworks, automated monitoring, and guardrails so that AI outputs meet clinical standards. Establish metrics, observability, and feedback loops for every AI feature you ship.
Architect for production. Develop robust AI systems, whether that’s prompt and context engineering, agentic workflows, classical ML models, or hybrid approaches. Deliver the best product outcome that delights users and works reliably at scale.
Ensure medical accuracy and safety. Implement doctors-in-the-loop review systems, output validation, and safety guardrails aligned with regulatory requirements.
Optimize for performance and cost. Tune prompts, select models, evaluate emerging techniques, and manage AI costs. Keep quality and latency within product requirements while bringing relevant innovations to production quickly.
Drive data quality for AI. Shape how health data flows into your features. Defining what data you need, how it’s structured, and how feedback loops keep AI outputs improving over time.
Need to have
Five to 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years building and shipping production AI/LLM-powered product features.
Product-minded engineering. You think in terms of customer outcomes, not just model metrics. You’ve shipped AI features that real users rely on.
Strong AI/LLM fundamentals. Deep experience with foundation model APIs, prompt engineering, context engineering, and orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent).
Production AI quality mindset. Hands-on experience with LLM evaluation, output monitoring, observability, A/B testing, and pragmatic model governance.
Strong software fundamentals. Python, API development, testing, CI/CD—enough to own a feature from prototype to production without depending on a separate backend team. Comfortable working in cloud environments (GCP preferred).
Passionate about responsible AI in health. Deep appreciation for data privacy, model bias, explainability, and the unique ethical considerations of applying AI to health.
Great to have
You’ve built AI-first products from scratch. As a founder, early-stage employee, or on a new product line.
Fine-tuning, model optimization, or multi-agent systems experience.
Healthcare domain knowledge: clinical workflows, medical terminology, FHIR standards, digital health, or clinical decision support.
Experience building AI features in regulated or high-stakes domains, e.g. healthcare, fintech, insurance, or similar, where output accuracy and safety directly affect end users.
Research background: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field.
Swiss or European healthcare compliance experience.
