What we can find
If I've been told I have PMOS, does that mean there's something wrong with my ovaries?
Not necessarily. The "polycystic" appearance on ultrasound used to refer to a ring of small follicles, not actual cysts. Around 20 to 30 percent of women with regular cycles and normal hormone levels show the same pattern, while some women who fully meet the diagnostic criteria have no polycystic appearance at all. It's one possible feature of the condition, not the defining one, which is exactly why the name has now changed to PMOS.
