Parietal lobe abs. volume (left)
Brain and nerve healthAlso known as: left parietal absolute volume, parietal lobe absolute volume
The volume of the left parietal lobe, which processes sensory information about the surrounding environment, spatial orientation, navigation, and some language functions.
Why this matters
Parietal lobe problems cause bizarre symptoms that seem unrelated. Left parietal damage causes difficulty with calculations, left-right confusion, finger agnosia (not knowing which finger is which), and problems writing. Right parietal damage causes hemispatial neglect - ignoring the left side of space (eating only from right side of plate, shaving only right side of face), difficulty dressing, and denying illness exists. Both sides affect spatial navigation - getting lost in familiar places, inability to judge distances, and difficulty reaching for objects accurately.
