What is the difference between your blood test and a standard GP blood test?
A standard GP (huisarts) blood test in the Netherlands usually covers a basic panel: blood count, cholesterol, blood sugar and sometimes liver and kidney values. It is typically 10 to 15 markers, ordered when symptoms are present.
The Ahead Advanced blood test is a preventive panel of 65 biomarkers, designed to catch early warning signs before symptoms appear. Key differences:
- Broader scope: we include ApoB and hs-CRP for cardiovascular risk, HbA1c and the TyG index for metabolic health, plus iron status and vitamin D. Most of these are not part of a routine GP check.
- Preventive: the panel is designed for healthy people who want to look ahead, not to diagnose existing symptoms.
- Clear report: your results come in an interactive online report with reference ranges, trends over time and personalised recommendations.
- Physician review: every result is reviewed by a physician who explains the findings and suggests next steps.
- Add-ons: you can extend your panel with hormones (women) / hormones (men), B-vitamins or Omega-3 & 6.
