Does a pelvic MRI replace a transvaginal ultrasound?
For your check-up, you won't need a separate transvaginal ultrasound. Our pelvic MRI shows your uterus and ovaries without an internal probe. It combines the T1, T2 and diffusion images of your pelvis from your full-body MRI with a high-resolution side-on (sagittal) scan, all in the same visit.
Ultrasound is still your gynaecologist's quick everyday tool, for example to keep an eye on a cyst over time, so if they recommend one, go ahead. If you have pelvic pain or unusual bleeding, see your gynaecologist now.
