Membership terms & conditions
1. Scope, definitions, and relationship to the General T&Cs
1.1 Parties and scope of application
These membership terms & conditions (the “Membership T&Cs”) govern “The Ahead Membership,” a recurring annual services offered by Ahead Health AG (“Ahead,” “we,” “us”, “our”), Uraniastrasse 31, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland, to the individual member (“Member,” “you”). The Membership T&Cs apply in reference to and as part of (i) the general Ahead Terms and Conditions available at https://www.aheadhealth.com/terms-conditions (the “General T&Cs”) and (ii) the Ahead Privacy Policy.
By entering into this Agreement, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by our Terms and Conditions (which includes this Membership T&Cs) and Privacy Policy.
By accepting this Agreement, you agree and acknowledge that we do not provide clinical or medical services, laboratory, imaging, or pharmacy services. Our role is limited to supporting and facilitating your access to these Providers via the Services.
1.2 Key definitions
- “Membership”: Our membership program is an automatic, recurring annual membership payment to Ahead’s platform. As part of the Membership, we offer access to third party laboratory testing, imaging service, and other health and wellness services as more fully described in Section 2.
- “Baseline blood test”: the Advanced blood test included in every membership as the initial health assessment. The blood draw is performed by Ahead’s medical partners and the analysis is carried out by an external specialist laboratory.
- “Follow-up blood test”: a follow-up blood panel available as a frequency upgrade within the membership year, designed to track changes in the Member’s health biomarkers over time.
- “Member pricing”: preferential pricing that Ahead may offer members on additional services purchased through the Ahead platform. Member pricing is determined by Ahead at its discretion, may vary by service, and may be adjusted at any time. It does not constitute a guaranteed rate or a permanent entitlement.
- “Entitlement / credit”: a prepaid benefit (e.g., baseline test, check-in panel) included in the membership that is consumed upon booking confirmation.
- “Membership period”: the 12-month period beginning on the date of membership purchase or renewal.
- “Care team”: As part of the Services, Ahead Health may make available a non-clinical care team to support your member experience. The care team provides operational support and general educational guidance and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment and does not create a provider-patient relationship.
2. The Membership
2.1 What the Membership includes
Each membership period includes:
- one baseline blood test (Advanced blood test);
- a health report, and action plan based on the results, made available through the Ahead app;
- optional follow-up blood tests that can be added as a frequency upgrade; and
- member pricing on additional services (Section 6).
- Email support on questions related to prevention provided by our care team (“Expert Support”).
The membership does not include additional services, like:
- Blood test add-ons, e.g., a hormone test
- Imaging services
- Doctor video consultations
The services are not appropriate for all medical conditions or concerns, and are not intended for the diagnosis, treatment, or ongoing management of any chronic medical condition. The services are not a substitute for care from your primary care physician or treating specialist. If you have a medical emergency, immediately call your doctor or dial 144.
2.2 Follow-up blood test booking window
The number of follow-up blood tests included in a given membership period is as confirmed in the member's order confirmation at the time of purchase.
Follow-up blood tests, booked at the beginning of the Membership, can be scheduled at any time within the Membership period.
Carry-over and expiry on cancellation or non-renewal are governed by Section 4.4.
2.3 Limited Use, Availability and Composition of blood tests
The individual biomarkers included in each blood test package are displayed on the Ahead website and / or platform.
Ahead may change individual biomarkers during the Membership period - for example, when a laboratory discontinues a test or a better alternative becomes available. Where possible, Ahead will substitute equivalent biomarkers.
If a change materially reduces the scope of the panel (in particular, where a discontinued biomarker cannot be replaced with an equivalent), Ahead will notify the Member with reasonable notice time before the scheduled test and offer, at Member's choice: a pro-rata fee reduction, an additional follow-up test at no cost, or the right to cancel with a pro-rata refund.
Minor changes that do not materially affect the panel's clinical value do not trigger these remedies.
Certain portions of our Services are currently only available to individuals who are located in Switzerland and in Cantons, in which we offer the Services. Services, available tests, and included biomarkers may vary by Canton, test center, and due to regulations.
2.4 Eligibility
2.4.1 Age
Certain products and services available through the Services are subject to age restrictions, and not all products or services on our Platform are available to all ages. To sign up for and maintain a membership account, you must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence if that age is higher
2.4.2 Location
The Services are intended for use only by individuals located in jurisdictions where we are authorized to offer them. Membership and other services are limited to the cantons and countries listed on our Platform, and the availability of any particular product or service may vary by location based on applicable licensing, regulatory, and logistical requirements. By registering for and using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are physically located in a jurisdiction where the Services are offered, that you are not accessing the Services from any jurisdiction where such access would be unlawful, and that you will not use the Services while temporarily located outside of an authorized jurisdiction.
3.Pricing, billing, and auto-renewal
3.1 Payment, Membership fees and applicable taxes
By providing a credit card or other payment method that we accept, you represent and warrant that you are authorized to use the designated payment method and that you authorize us or our third-party payment processor to charge your payment method for the total amount of your purchase (including any applicable taxes and other charges) (each, a “Transaction”). Only valid payment methods acceptable to us may be used to complete a purchase via the Services. If the payment method cannot be verified, is invalid or is otherwise not acceptable, your Transaction may be suspended or canceled. You must resolve any payment method problems before we proceed with your Transaction. If you want to change or update your payment method information, you can do so at any time by emailing get@aheadhealth.com.
You acknowledge that the amount billed may vary due preferences you select, or changes in applicable taxes or other charges, and you authorize us (or our third party-payment processor) to charge your payment method for the corresponding amount.
The membership is billed annually. All prices are in Swiss Francs (CHF) and inclusive of applicable VAT where applicable. Current pricing is displayed on the Ahead website and at checkout.
3.2 Automatic renewal and notice period
The membership renews automatically at the end of each 12-month membership period at the then-current annual rate, unless cancelled in accordance with this Section and Section 4.1.
Renewal notice. Ahead will send the Member a renewal notice by email at least thirty (30) days before the renewal date, stating the renewal date and the price that will apply for the next membership period. If the renewal price differs from the previous period, this will be clearly stated in the notice.
3.3 Failed payment at renewal
If payment fails at renewal, Ahead will attempt to collect payment for up to fourteen (14) days and will notify the Member by email. If payment cannot be collected within that period, the membership will be suspended and entitlements paused until payment is resolved. See also Section 4.5.3 on termination for non-payment.
General payment methods and general payment obligations are governed by General T&Cs.
3.4 Price changes for future membership periods
Ahead reserves the right to adjust membership pricing for future membership periods. Any price change will be communicated at least thirty (30) days before the next renewal date. Members who do not wish to continue at the new price may cancel before the renewal date without penalty in accordance with Section 3.2.
3.5 Change of testing frequency
You retain the right to change your membership testing frequency for the next membership period, for example switch to a lower testing frequency that only includes your baseline blood test. To change your testing frequency after your existing membership period, please inform members@aheadhealth.com. Your membership stays continuously active in this case (reference is made to Sections 4.4.1 and 4.4.2).
4. Membership cancellation, refunds, and termination
4.1 Cancellation by the Member
Members may cancel their membership at any time. Cancellation stops the automatic renewal of the membership; it does not, by itself, terminate the membership immediately. The Member retains full access to all membership benefits, including unused entitlements, follow up tests, and member pricing, for the remainder of the current 12-month membership period, subject to Section 4.4.
How to cancel. Via the Ahead member dashboard or app, or by contacting support at members@aheadhealth.com. A cancellation confirmation email will be sent upon successful cancellation.
4.2 Effect of Member cancellation
Upon cancellation by the Member:
- the membership services remains active until the end of the current 12-month period;
- all unused follow up tests remain available and can be redeemed until the end of the membership period. See Section 4.4 for carry-over and expiry rules; no refund is issued for unused tests, except as provided in Section 4.3;
- member pricing continues to apply to service delivery made before the membership end date;
- no further renewal charges will be made;
- after the membership period expires, all membership benefits cease and any additional services are charged at standard pricing.
4.3 Membership fee: non-refundability and exceptions
The membership fee is non-refundable once the membership period has begun, and there is no pro-rata refund for early cancellation by the Member except as stated in Section 2.3; the Member retains benefits until the end of the paid period. This is subject to the following exceptions:
4.3.1 Product discontinuation by Ahead
If Ahead discontinues the membership product entirely, the Member will receive a pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the current membership period, and any unused tests will be refunded. See also Section 4.5.6.
4.4 Unused tests (follow up tests): carry-over and expiry
Except as provided in Sections 4.3 and 4.5, Ahead does not provide refunds for unused services after cancellation. Unused follow-up blood tests are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash.
4.4.1 Carry-over on renewal
If the membership renews (i.e., the subscription remains continuously active), any unused follow-up tests carry over automatically into the next 12-month membership period.
4.4.2 Expiry on cancellation or lapse
If the membership is cancelled or not renewed (i.e., the subscription does not remain continuously active), unused tests remain available for the remainder of the current membership period but expire at the end of that period. No refund is issued for expired tests and/or services.
4.5 Termination by Ahead: grounds and notice periods
Ahead may only terminate a membership on the following grounds and subject to the following notice periods:
4.5.1 Breach of terms
In the event of a material breach by the Member of these Membership T&Cs, the General T&Cs, or Privacy Policy, Ahead may terminate the membership upon fourteen (14) days’ written notice giving the Member an opportunity to cure the breach. If the breach is cured within that period to Ahead’s reasonable satisfaction, the termination notice will be withdrawn.
4.5.2 Fraud or abuse
In the event of fraudulent or abusive behaviour by the Member, Ahead may terminate the membership with immediate effect and without prior notice.
4.5.3 Non-payment
Following a failed payment, Ahead may terminate the membership upon seven (7) days’ written notice after the failed payment, provided that the Member has not resolved the outstanding amount within that period. See also Section 3.3.
4.5.4 Regulatory requirement
Where required to comply with applicable law or a binding regulatory decision, Ahead may terminate the membership upon reasonable written notice to the Member, the length of such notice to reflect the nature of the regulatory requirement.
4.5.5 Emergency suspension
Ahead may suspend or terminate the membership with immediate effect and without prior notice, but only in the event of a security breach affecting the Member’s account, or illegal use of the service. Any such suspension or termination will be confirmed to the Member in writing as soon as reasonably practicable, together with a statement of the reasons.
4.5.6 Consequences of termination by Ahead
Where Ahead terminates under Sections 4.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.5.3, or 4.5.5 due to conduct of the Member, no refund of the membership fee is due and unused tests expire on termination. Where Ahead terminates under Section 4.5.4 (regulatory requirement) or discontinues the product under Section 4.3.2, a pro-rata refund of the membership fee will be issued for the unused portion of the current membership period, and any unused tests will be refunded.
5. Appointment bookings, cancellations, and no-shows
5.1 Reference to General T&Cs
Individual appointments booked as part of the membership (baseline blood tests, follow-up tests, and any other services booked through the Ahead platform) are governed by the booking, cancellation, rescheduling, late-arrival, and no-show provisions set out in the General Ahead T&Cs and Privacy Policy.
5.2 Effect on membership entitlements
For the avoidance of doubt, where a Member fails to attend a booked appointment or cancels outside the window permitted under the General T&Cs, the corresponding membership entitlement or credit (e.g., a baseline or follow-up blood test) continues to be valid, and no refund is due. Any cancellation, no show fees, or deposits indicated in the scheduling apply as set out in the General T&Cs may apply and will be charged.
6. Member pricing on additional services
6.1 Scope and eligible services
Ahead may, at its discretion, offer active Members preferential pricing on additional services available through the Ahead platform. These may include, without limitation, additional diagnostic services, consultations, and health-related add-ons. The range of eligible services and the applicable member pricing are published on the Ahead website and displayed at checkout.
6.2 No guaranteed rate
Member pricing is a benefit that Ahead provides voluntarily and may modify, extend, or withdraw at any time. Member pricing does not represent a fixed percentage reduction or a guaranteed rate relative to any reference price. The applicable member price for any given service is the price displayed to the Member at the time of checkout.
6.3 Non-combinability with other offers
Member pricing is not combinable with other promotional offers, voucher codes, or special campaigns unless Ahead explicitly states otherwise.
6.4 Status after membership ends
Member pricing ceases at the end of the membership period. Any services purchased and/or delivered after the membership end date are charged at the standard price applicable at the time of purchase.
7. Modifications to terms and services
7.1 Amendments to these Membership T&Cs
Material amendments to these Membership T&Cs will be communicated to the Member by email at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. The deemed-acceptance mechanism set out in General T&Cs applies to such amendments (i.e., the amendments are deemed accepted in the absence of a written objection within one month of notification). Members who do not accept a material amendment may cancel their membership before the amendment takes effect without penalty.
7.2 Changes to the services
Changes to the Ahead services themselves (functionality, features, user experience improvements) may be made at any time without separate notification, provided they do not materially reduce the core membership services described in Section 2.1. Material changes will be treated as amendments under Section 7.1.
8. Governing law, jurisdiction, and disputes
8.1 Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by Swiss law, without regard to its conflict of law provisions or international treaties that would lead to the application of other law.
8.2 Jurisdiction
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Membership Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zurich, Switzerland.
Before initiating legal proceedings, the parties shall attempt to resolve any disputes through good-faith negotiations.
