Posterior vertebral displacement (retrolisthesis)

Backward displacement of one vertebra relative to the one below it, usually resulting from age-related wear of the discs; it can narrow the spinal canal and press on nerves, causing back pain, tingling, or numbness. MRI shows the degree of slippage and any resulting compression of neural structures.
