Bone and muscle healthDetected by MRI
Spinal cord metastases
Cancer that has spread to the spinal cord or its coverings. MRI detects these deposits early, before cord compression causes permanent neurological damage. MRI can raise suspicion of this finding, but a definitive diagnosis requires further specialist assessment — typically examining a tissue sample (taken by biopsy or during surgical removal), and sometimes additional imaging or blood tests.
