Bladder and kidney healthDetected by MRI
Transitional cell carcinoma of the kidney
Cancer arising from the urothelial lining of the kidney's collecting system and renal pelvis. MRI shows the mass and any spread into surrounding tissue, guiding staging and treatment. MRI can raise suspicion of this finding, but a definitive diagnosis requires further specialist assessment — typically examining a tissue sample (taken by biopsy or during surgical removal), and sometimes additional imaging or blood tests.
