Does Swiss health insurance cover a DEXA scan?

The basic mandatory insurance (Grundversicherung / LAMal) covers DEXA scanning in specific situations, for example following a fragility fracture or for people on long-term corticosteroids where a medical indication is established. Proactive screening without symptoms is typically not covered. Supplementary insurers like KPT's Pulse plan may cover costs as part of a broader check-up package.
