As accurate as a contrast MRI.
Without the contrast injection.

We use the newer bi-parametric protocol. In the 2024 PRIME trial, the most rigorous head-to-head comparison to date, it detected aggressive prostate cancer at the same rate as the older contrast-based scan, with no IV and a shorter scan.

As accurate, no contrast

In the 2024 PRIME trial, the bi-parametric scan detected aggressive prostate cancer in 29.2% of men, versus 29.6% for the contrast-based scan. A clinically negligible difference, with no IV and a much shorter scan.

A clear risk score

A Swiss radiologist reads your scan and rates how suspicious any findings are, from very low to very high risk. This shows whether a biopsy is genuinely needed, and crucially, when one can be safely avoided.

The guideline-backed pathway

Scanning with MRI before biopsy is the recommended pathway in European and American guidelines, established by the landmark 2018 PRECISION trial. It spares roughly one in three men an unnecessary procedure.

Questions we could help with

Real questions from people like you, and how a prostate MRI helps answer them.

My PSA came back elevated. Should I go straight to a biopsy?

Probably not yet. Current European and American guidelines now recommend an MRI before biopsy. If the scan is reassuring and your PSA density is low, the biopsy can usually be safely postponed or skipped. This pathway spares roughly one in three men an unnecessary procedure.

My father had prostate cancer. When should I start being checked?

Family history shifts the screening start date forward by about five years. Both EAU and AUA guidelines recommend a baseline PSA from age 40 if you have a first-degree relative with prostate cancer, paired with an MRI if the result is elevated.

Is the bi-parametric MRI really as accurate as the older contrast-based one?

Yes, and this was the question the 2024 PRIME trial was designed to settle. In a head-to-head comparison, the bi-parametric protocol detected aggressive prostate cancer in 29.2% of men, versus 29.6% for the contrast-based protocol. A clinically negligible difference, with no IV and a much shorter scan.

I'm getting up three times a night to pee. Is that just ageing or something more?

Most often it's benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate that affects most men by their 60s. The MRI measures prostate volume directly, distinguishes BPH from cancer, and identifies the pattern of enlargement, which informs treatment options if the symptoms start to interfere with your life.

The prostate MRI is an add-on to your Full-body MRI.
